Heads Up was founded in 1985, first developing a digital audio checklist system for pilots, allowing them to fly “heads up.” Since then, the company widened its expertise in this area to include information and warning systems for the cockpit and cabin.
Utilizing its digital audio experience, the company expanded capabilities again, working with XM Satellite Radio to design and manufacture FAA-approved radio and weather receivers. Today, these products have been integrated with most cabin management companies for entertainment purposes, and with laptop/EFB companies as well as many leading MFD manufacturers to assist pilots with strategic weather information.
With excellent opto-electronic experience in-house, the company developed a patented LED cabin lighting system in early 2001 and secured the first OEM production contract in the industry. Since then, advancements have been made for both interior and exterior LED lighting applications. Heads Up lighting has been installed on a wide variety of aircraft, including models by Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault Falcon Jet, Gulfstream and Hawker Beechcraft.
