Heads Up Technologies Receives STC/PMA for
LED Wash Lighting System
LED based system provides ease of installation, superior
reliability
and flexibility to meet OEM and aftermarket cabin interior lighting requirements.
Carrollton, Texas ---
October 2, 2003--- Heads Up Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic
solutions for corporate, regional and commercial aircraft, has received FAA STC/PMA
for its CLE-series LED Wash Lighting System on Cessna Citation Model 650 aircraft.
The CLE-series wash lights utilize state-of-the-art
LED technology developed in conjunction with OSRAM, the industrial lighting division
of Siemens. The 28 VDC system is capable of dimming from 0 to 100% brightness.
The unique optical design incorporates color correction to achieve any desired
color temperature thus providing very natural lighting conditions along with brightness
levels comparable to cold cathode solutions.
The LED lighting elements can are available
in various lengths, and can be spaced closely together for “seamless”
lighting effects. The rugged mechanical design eliminates breakage associated
with cold cathode tubes. Cabin lighting system weight has also been significantly
decreased compared to traditional lighting systems since high voltage inverters
are not required and aircraft wiring requirements are also simplified.

advantages to aircraft operators in terms of reliability and lower operating costs.
Performance has increased to the point that it is indistinguishable from most
T-5 cold cathode systems”, said David Groos, Sr. VP, Sales and Marketing

to the aftermarket” he added.
The system is easy to install in both new aircraft
and retrofit applications, and the LED-based system is compliant with DO160D environmental
standards. The technology will be on display in Heads Up’s booth at the
2003 NBAA in New Orleans.
