HCES Cabin Entertainment System
When we set out to establish a feature-rich cabin entertainment system for smaller aircraft, we listened to what our customers wanted: The flexibility to choose HD video and audio or audio-only systems. Easy-to-install compact switch panels for each seat. Light weight and easy mounting of the switching units, preferably in a single case. And most of all, they wanted to avoid the hassle of having to do the work of mixing and matching various components from different suppliers.
Our answer was to provide a higher level of integration with more standard features, including:
- Audio distribution systems with integrated MP3 audio and XM Satellite Radio
- HD and SD Video distribution
- SVGA inputs for laptops and computer games
- Auxiliary inputs for iPods and other devices
- OLED (Organic LED) displays for easy program selection
- VIP and Non-VIP functionality
The HCES Cabin Entertainment system is our answer to mix-and-match cabin entertainment. It’s a solution that provides the features you want for a cost that’s less than you would expect – all in one switch panel. And it’s all backed by Heads Up’s quality and reliability.

Audio/Video Distribution
The highly flexible system can support audio-only or audio and video options. When configured for audio only, an integrated XM radio receiver allows different passengers to listen to their favorite channels, simultaneously. In addition, MP3 selections can be easily supported by a USB stick, or an auxiliary audio input for iPod attachments.
Video capabilities for business or entertainment can be added easily. Adding a VDU (video distribution unit) along with Blu-ray players allows your passengers to select their desired movie for viewing on individual seat monitors – or the movie can be displayed on the bulkhead monitor for all to see.
HD Monitors
We build our monitors from the ground up from industrial grade components, to ensure they are as compact and reliable as possible.
10.3” monitors can be installed for each seat on swing-arm mounts, and 15.3” monitors are available for bulkhead mount locations. Arms rotate 180 degrees for maximum flexibility, and one arm supports both left- and right-side configurations. Wide-screen formatting is standard, and all monitors support high definition and Blu-ray inputs. What’s more, there’s no need to manually turn on or adjust monitors – it can all be done from the passenger control panel.
Switch Panels
Our thin, low-profile design makes our switch panels ideal for drink-rail or window reveal mounting locations. The integrated OLED displays and easy-to-understand menu are extremely user friendly, even to novices. Integrated headphone jacks are included. A variety of plating options allow you to ensure the system matches your existing cabin interiors.
To operate, passengers simply select their audio or video preferences, and the system automatically displays their options. Individual passengers can control their own monitors, and you can choose one or several VIPs to control and change the bulkhead monitors at any time. VIP operations also have access to general system health diagnostics.
Sources
The trend toward personal entertainment devices (PEDs) such as iPads, iPods, MP3 players, and smart phones means passengers will carry on more content than ever before. But those who simply want to relax and watch a Blu-ray or DVD movie can still do so. Passengers can pause, start/stop, and navigate the disc players from their very own switch panel.
