Exterior LED lighting developments enhance performance while reducing weight, power and size. Carrollton, Texas – October 19, 2009 – Heads Up Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic solutions for general aviation and commercial aircraft, has developed and qualified several high intensity LED exterior lights for the Cessna CJ family, including the landing lights. Originally developed for the CJ4, these lights are now available on production CJ1, CJ2 and CJ3 aircraft.
High brightness LEDs were used to replace traditional incandescent bulbs for the landing lights, wing inspection lights, tail flood lights, and overwing exit lights. These LEDs used approximately one-third of the electrical current, reduced size, weight, waste heat, and parts count, while improving light output performance.
